Small but mighty! This is the best ice machine I have owned. Yes, basket is small, but makes ice fast. Added plus, it is easy to handle and clean. LOVE IT! I've had for one week, hope it lasts. Makes perfect ice and keeps form. So happy with this purchase!!

I thought I was going to hate it , bought it by mistake, I really love it the ice stays frozen much longer. I can fill my bubba keg and it lasts all day. I can chew the ice easily. Ice fits easily into any container. A plus, it keeps up with me and that is a first.

This ice maker is amazing! The ice it makes is better than Sonic. It's softer and easy on your teeth, and it soaks up your drink. The machine itself doesn't take up much room on your countertop but somehow still holds lots of water and makes a good amount of ice. There are four people in my family and it does a good job of keeping up with how much ice we use. I also l love that it reuses the water from the melted ice and evaporation. It shuts off when it's full, so I don't have to worry about it overflowing. I highly recommend this!

I love, love, love my Opal icemaker! It was expensive, but I saved up to buy one after I saw one at my friend's house. It is so neat! It makes the ice like you get in your drink at Sonic. It's tiny and crunchy and perfect for all my drinks. It is a little bit noisy, but it only runs until the ice bin is full, then it stops on its own. I imagine I could empty the bin into another container to keep in my freezer so I could have tons and tons of this great ice to use at a party. The bin on the icemaker doesn't hold a lot, so when the item description says it will make 38 pounds in 24 hours, I would HAVE to do that. The place where you pour in water (without the side tank) isn't very big and would only support filling the bin up about halfway. You need the side tank or you'll be filling it up every hour or so. I like that I can turn the light off or have it bright or dim. I haven't messed with the WiFi or voice control, so I can't speak to that. I don't know why anyone would give it fewer than 5 stars. Buy one! You'll like it.

We've owned our GE Icemaker for over a year now, so I'm updating this review to bring potential buyers up-to-speed on how to get the most out of GE's latest version of this icemaker.

1) You absolutely must use soft water or distilled water to make ice. If you have hard water, the unit will lock-up after a month requiring a several-hour process to flush the unit with vinegar to get it operational again. The cleaning process is a big pain in the rear, so it's just best to use the right water to begin with. Besides, after you put ice in your glass, you can use regular tap water or filtered water an you'll have an excellent glass of cold water to enjoy.
2) Don't believe all those cleaning videos you see on the internet. All of them are for repairing older models of this icemaker. GE's newest model has several internal components that are factory-sealed and not-serviceable.
3) If your unit has already locked-up, don't worry. Remove the ice bin and fill the bottom compartment with 2" of vinegar (not diluted) and run the cleaning cycle at least a dozen times. And wait 5 minutes between cycles to let the vinegar soak the internal components. Eventually, all the calcium will be dissolved and the water will again circulate through the system.
4) How will you know when your system is getting clogged-up? Well it can sound like anything from a wailing cat to drag a concrete block across a ceramic tile floor. It ain't pretty.
5) Is the icemaker worth buying? You bet. I am writing this review drinking a cold glass of water using ice from my icemaker. Since I only use distilled water in the unit, everything is now fine.
