I’m giving this four out of five simply because I’ve used this only one time so I can’t say anything about longevity. However, I learned fairly quickly the key to windy conditions is all about pole placement and a lot of sand in the bags. This is literally a sail and if you place your poles closer towards the edge of the fabric and with a lot of weight from the sand you can allow the wind to work for you. You also don’t need all four poles in gusty conditions. We had two working in the front facing the wind and the wind did the rest lifting the back of the tent parachute style. Now if this material deteriorates then all bets are off. Fingers crossed. 😎

Fantastic purchase. Used it on on extremely windy day at the coast in Port A in Texas. No issues. Make sure to read the instructions and use the elastic bands on top of the poles. Also make sure to stretch the sandbags far apart to prevent future stretching that could cause the poles to fall.

Such a great purchase for the beach! Of course you have to fill the sand bags but once it’s up you don’t have to worry about it coming down with wind at the beach! The pole in the middle is functional and good quality! It’s allows the ceiling to be high enough to stand or sit under! My favorite part is the compact of carrying when it is taken down!

Love how easy it is to carry around and set up in comparison to a standard pop up tent. Great sun protection, my family is fair skinned so sun shade is required.

We used this on the beach and there was very little wind at first. There was another family with a very popular, more expensive sun shade that wouldn’t work because there wasn’t enough wind, but this Sun Ninja shade was amazing. The wind picked up later and my new shade held up perfectly! Easy setup and take down. Very happy with this purchase!

So much better than umbrellas. We’ve been using every day for a few weeks and it’s holding up very well. Relatively easy setup, but does take a few times to get efficient at it. I’ve found the easiest way to start is just put a few scoops of sand in each bag in order to easily spread the tent out, then do the poles and fill the bags the rest of the way. We now can easily set it up in just a few minutes. Stays sturdy even in windy conditions. Also - highly suggest getting all 4 poles. Definitely would recommend this product.

This is the second one we have ordered. We go to the beach regularly during the summer, so we have used this in all types of conditions. We have never had a problem with keeping it standing - even on extremely windy days. It is lightweight and super easy to set up. Be sure to watch the short video of how to set it up. This will help you avoid the reasons why people with similar products can't keep them standing. The secret is that the TOP of the pole points into the wind. Having the sand bags as part of the tent makes it compact and may contribute to why it is so stable on windy days. I would highly recommend this product!

We overnighted this for our beach trip this weekend after reading a ton of reviews, and I’m so glad we did.

Pros: it’s light weight, no rusting, and sturdy even on a windy day (it’s the beach, of course it’s windy), and has great coverage.

Cons: it took more time (lots of sand digging) to set up than a regular canopy. I watched the videos beforehand and once we figured it out, it was very easy. We’ve been here for 5+ hrs and it hasn’t moved!

Would definitely recommend! We’ve been through so many canopies in the past and I’m hopeful this one will last a long while!

ETA: it was soooo easy to take down and pack up!!

Purchased specifically for a Florida gulf coast beach vacation in July 2024 for our family of 4 and it got the job done! We will take it back again this year. Keeping tension when setting up is key. If it’s windy, dig holes in the sand to put the full corner “bags” in, and then bury them for extra stability. It does help to have a larger shovel than the scoop it comes with. My only complaint is that it’s impossible to set up/take down without getting completely covered in sand but maybe that’s the Midwest girl in me not used to sand in everything. We rinsed it out at our vacation rental, brought it back home on the airplane and rinsed it out well again at home, ran it through the washer and air dried and it’s like new again. It’s worth the money to purchase it and fly to a destination versus renting shade once you get there if you plan to use it multiple times. Would recommend!

Dark Blue: 10'x1-': 4 Poles:---The sun Ninja was very easy to set up. Be sure to watch the set up video. We bought 2 extra shovels so more than one person can fill the sandbag corners. It is important to over-fill the corner sandbags and stretch them out on the sand. That and the poles are what gives stability to the structure. This beach tent takes up a lot of room. Make sure you aren’t encroaching on your nearby neighbors. It takes a little practice to set it up for windy conditions, but the Sun Ninja generally works very well and easily covers 4 people and their beach equipment. And at the end of the day, it is very easy to empty the sandbags at each corner and fold into an amazing small carry bag. We are very pleased with it.

Most importantly if set up correctly it works amazingly well in very strong beach wind.

This is a photo of our trip to Sardinia, Italy. We bought the XL version and brought it all the way from Ireland knowing how hot it will get here in summer. We have two young kids so wanted to make sure they’re fully covered. It was quick and easy to setup and very stable even in a fairly strong wind. Gives excellent shelter. Everyone on the beach was looking jealously at us as they all had the standard small parasols.

It does cost more than most brands but you have to pay for quality. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone heading for the sun. Enjoy!
